The University of Jamestown picks up the win against the Doane University Tigers 10-7. The conditions were wet as kickoff started at 1 pm, and got worse as the game went on.

QB Ty Monson for the Jimmies threw to Isaiah Roebuck on a drag route, Roebuck would turn up field for 62 yards getting the Jimmies down to the 16 yard line. Monson would hit Gage Solano on a slant route for a 16 yard touchdown to take the lead 7-0 with 1:25 left in the 1st quarter.

With lot’s of sloppy play in between, nobody would score in the 2nd and 3rd quarter.

Then with 13:35 left in the 4th quarter on 4th and inches, Reece Zutavern rushed 30 yards on fullback run to the outside catching the defense off guard. That result was on a 6 play, 49 yard drive that started at the Jimmies 49 yard line. Ball game tied 7-7.  Doane with just under 5 minutes left in the ball would muffle a punt, allowing Jamestown to start their offensive drive with 10 yards to the endzone, a pristine opportunity in a game where redzone looks were hard to come by. Then with 3:37 left in the 4th quarter it would be up to Aanon Peterson to connect on a 24 yard field goal to take the lead, he followed through and the Jamestown would go up 10-7.

Doane would start at their own 38 yard line but would be forced into a 3 and out by the Jimmie Defense, with a long 4th down play the Tigers would be forced to punt with only 2 timeouts left with 1:43 left in the ball game. The Jimmies would get pinned down on their own 5 yard line. That’s when running back Carlos Julian would break away for a game ending run for 37 yards. A couple run plays and kneel down would get the Jimmies out of Charlotte and Gordon Hansen Stadium with a 10-7 victory. Jamestown moves to 1-4 on the season.

Monson passed 10-24 for 132 yards with a touchdown and a interception. Carlos Julian led the way rushing with 10 carries for 76 yards. Isaiah Roebuck led the receiving room in yards with 63 on 2 catches while Ryan Collins finished with 4 catches for 50 yards. Gage Solano had the lone passing touchdown on the day for either team, finishing with 1 catch for 16 yards and a touchdown.

The University of Jamestown enters a bye next week and will comeback the week after to take on Mount Mary (S.D) University on 10/08.
