(NewsDakota.com)- It wasn’t the most productive Holiday trip if you are basing that off of wins and losses. The Jimmie men dropped all four of their games before returning home last night and the women tripled their loss total for the season.
The trip for Greg Ulland’s squad started in Las Vegas where they won their 7th straight game over a Frontier League team beating Montana-Western 67-59. They took their second loss the following night when they lost to Montana Tech, 72-61.
The men on the other hand traveled first to Arizona Christian where they played the Firestorm twice losing both, 64-59 and 76-57.
The two teams met up in Espanola, NM on January 3rd for a double-header against Northern New Mexico. The women picked up their second win of the trip with a 71-51 blowout. The Jimmie men’s tough luck continued with a fourth consecutive loss, 68-52.
The Jimmies ended their trip in Denver, CO on Saturday with a date against Johnson and Wales (CO). It was the second A.I.I. team that the Jimmies would play, meaning a potential opponent in February when Jamestown College will try to punch their ticket to the National Tournament. Unfortunately, both teams were beaten.
The women had four players in double-figures but couldn’t pull out the victory, losing 78-76. Carly Jensen (18) and Hannah Steele (17) lead the way. The men led by Taylor Newton’s 13 lost 55-50.
A new NAIA Top-25 poll is due out tomorrow and it appears the No. 11 women will drop after a 2-2 road trip despite a Dec. 20th win over No. 6 Briar Cliff. They are currently 14-3.
The men dropped their 5th straight game and their record is now 7-11.
Both teams will return to action on Friday when they travel to SD Mines.
