VALLEY CITY, ND  (Courtesy of VCSUVikings.com and NewsDakota.com)  VCSU senior Riley Gerhardt has been named the NSAA Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. Gerhardt earned the honor after recording 11 tackles and three sacks in VCSU’s 14-6 win at Dakota State University.

Gerhardt broke the all-time career record for tackles for loss in the game, moving to 49.5 for his career, surpassing the record set by Joe Maresh.

Gerhardt is a senior from Valley City, North Dakota, and is pursuing an engineering career.  He chose to return to VCSU after obtaining a degree last year.

The Vikings host Mayville State as part of 2023 Homecoming this week.
