Casselton, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The Central Cass Squirrels did just enough to beat the Oakes Tornadoes by a final score of 7-0.

The game was close all night long. Oakes would threaten late in the first quarter getting down to the 7 yard line but they would come up inches short on 4th down. Central Cass would threaten twice as well but Oakes would have a couple of interceptions one from Mario Garza and one late in the first half by Blayson Dolney deep in Oakes territory preventing a touchdown. Oakes would threaten on the following drive however Dolney would aim towards the endzone from deep and it would be intercepted by Peyton Lemar to prevent any score in the first half.

Neither team would be able to get anything going in the 3rd as punts would be had for both teams. The Squirrels would get the ball in the fourth quarter and begin to march down the field. With 6:11 seconds left on the clock they would strike pay-dirt as Brayden Mitchell would find Kale Pearson on a 33 yard touchdown pass-catch-run. Oakes wouldn’t be able to threaten for the rest of the game coming up just short on one last 4th down conversion attempt allowing the Squirrels to win 7-0.

The Bank North Players of the Game were Trey Skoglund and Kale Pearson.

The Tornadoes fall to 1-1 while Central Cass rises to meet them at 1-1.

Oakes now returns home for one last game before the bye when they take on Oak Grove next Friday, September 1st. You can catch all the action on KDDR The Tornado.
