RUGBY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Senior Logan Weninger had five touchdowns total, including a kickoff return and four rushing TD’s to help the Carrington Cardinals defeat the Rugby Panthers in Class 1A Region 2 action Friday night, 48-14. Carrington is now 1-1 overall and in the region, Rugby is now 0-2 overall and in the region.
The Cardinals scored right away on the kickoff return when McKade Zink ran 70 yards for the touchdown on the kickoff return just nine seconds into the game. The Panthers would score right after, but fail on the 2-point conversion making the score 7-6, that would be as close as the Panthers would get. Weninger would score his first TD of the game on another kickoff return in the first quarter. He would rush for four more TD’s, his longest was a 74-yard rushing TD in the third quarter.
Next up for Carrington will be on Friday, Sept. 1st back in Carrington against another region opponent, Cavalier, KDAK AM 1600/100.1 and newsdakota.com will have the game broadcast starting about 635pm pregame, 7pm kickoff.
