Karleen was born on September 24, 1974, in Chicago, IL to Vernon and Kathleen (Kapaun) Raaen. The family moved to Maida, ND and later to Langdon, ND where she attended school.
Karleen was known for having a big heart. She loved her boys beyond measure and loved to share stories about their escapades, always followed by her goofy laugh. She enjoyed taking walks and enjoyed being in the outdoors which led to her exceptional love for animals, and we have no doubt that she is now happily reunited with two of her favorite fur babies, Rambo and Lily.
She married John Zaun November 12, 2004, in Langdon. The couple made their home in Valley City where their 4 boys were raised.
Karleen is survived by her 4 sons, Dakota Zaun of Vacaville, CA, Caleb Eurich of West Fargo, ND and Brady and Aidyn Zaun of Valley City; her father, Vernon Raaen of Surprise, AZ; sisters, Vernetta (Von) Christianson of Langdon and Janelle Raaen of Nashville, TN; nephews, Kody (JennaLee) Christianson of Grand Forks, ND and Kale (Tasha) Christianson of Langdon; niece, Kamry (Ryan Buck) Christianson of Langdon; fiancé, Rickie Lindsey of St Mary’s, Ga; ex-husband, John Zaun of Valley City; uncles and aunts, Jerome (Joyce) Kapaun, Doug (Bev) Wellentin, Chuck (Cherrie) Wellentin and Lester (Kathy) Wellentin.
Preceding her in death is her mother, Kathleen Raaen; grandparents, Clifford and Mildred (Lee Wellentin) Raaen and Henry and Elizabeth (Puhr) Kapaun; uncles, Kenneth Kapaun and Leon Raaen; and aunts, Rosalie Kapaun and Marilyn Raaen.
