The Jamestown Speedway was back in action on Saturday, July 22nd for 1/2 Price Beer Night and Saturday Night Thunder presented by 103.1 The Raven.

A lot of hard fought battles throughout the night. The track was smooth and slick from the top to the bottom of the Speedway.

Overall, there were 88 cars in the pits to do battle.  Here are the feature winners and runner-ups:

Bombers/Pure Stocks – 16 Cars:

  • Winner: Jayden Michaelsohn, Runner-Up: Asher Williams
  • Hard Charger: Billy Carow +5 (12th to 7th)

A very good battle between Jayden Michaelsohn, Asher Williams, and Erik Busche up front in the feature. Jayden held off a hard-charging Asher Williams in the closing laps to pick up the win.

INEX Legends – 22 Cars:

  • Winner: Preston Martin, Runner-Up: Donavin Wiest
  • Hard Charger: Donavin Wiest +9 (11th to 2nd)

A very good battle up front between Gus Jensen, Preston Martin, Glenn Mitchell, and Donavin Wiest. It was a great race for the lead as the top 4 drives were slicing and dicing with various lines to hold onto their spots. Preston made the pass on Donavin with 5 laps remaining to cruise to his third win of the weekend.

Wissota Midwest Modifieds – 19 Cars:

  • Winner: Jaren Wibstad, Runner-Up: Jarod Klein
  • Hard Charger: Arin Beyer +10 (19th to 9th)

This race had a great battle up front for the lead. The top 6 drivers were under a blanket when the caution came out on lap 10. Jason Grimes, Troy Nelson, Jaren Wibstad, Brennon Weight, Lucas Rodin, and Jarod Klein were in a heated battle for the lead. Grimes held out to the point until Jaren Wibstad make it three-wide on the restart and took over the lead on the back straightaway. A great battle ensued for second with Jarod Klein on the top of the track and Lucas Rodin on the bottom with Klein holding off Rodin at the line for 2nd.

Wissota Street Stocks – 11 Cars:

  • Winner: Clay Gentzkow (1st Jamestown Street Stock Win!), Runner-Up: Rory Opp
  • Hard Charger: Chris Ritter +4 (8th to 4th) & Jordan Johnson +4 (10th to 6th)

Clay Gentzkow fought off challenges from Rory Opp and Brian Hanson Jr. to get his first Jamestown Speedway Wissota Street Stock feature win! Hanson was on the bumper of Gentzkow the entire race until he got into Clay with 5 laps remaining and the lead duo spun in turns 1-2. Hanson went tail end and Gentzkow held off Rory Opp who was going for his second win in a row in the closing laps.

IMCA Modifieds – 16 Cars:

  • Winner: John Corell, Runner-Up: John Nord
  • Hard Charger: Matt Duchscherer +7 (16th to 9th)

This race was fast and intense. Logan Schmitz held the lead until a caution came out only a few laps in. Logan went to the bottom during the restart and John Corell used the high line to get around Schmitz. John Nord, who lost his air filter early in the race, got by Schmitz on the bottom with about 10 laps remaining to finish runner-up. Schmitz had a great run in third followed by Scott Gartner and Andy Kapp.

Jr./Sr. Slingshots – 4 Cars:

  • Winner: AJ Matzke, Runner-Up: Reed Ketterling

No races next weekend at Jamestown Speedway as the North Dakota Governor’s Cup is occurring at the Dacotah Speedway in Mandan. The next event will be August 5th for the Rebel Midwest Modified Tour ($1,000 to Win Wissota Midwest Modifieds) and Ladies Night with all regular classes running. The gates open at 5:30 pm and racing action begins at 7:00 pm.
