CITY (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City’s Shane Undem took seventh place during the big Rumble on the Red wrestling tournament held last weekend at the Fargodome.

Undem posted a 4-2 record at the tournament including a 5-3 decision in the 7th place match for 152 pounds.

Steven Horner also had a nice tournament for Valley City, posting a 3-2 record and falling one win short of the placing matches at 285 pounds.

Zach Doty also wrestled in the varsity division for Valley City. He went 1-2 at the tournament with a pair of close losses. His first loss came by a 4-3 decision and his second loss came by a 4-2 decision in overtime.

In the junior varsity division, Valley City had a very strong tournament, taking 17th place out of 61 teams.  Freshman Jordan Magnuson led Valley City’s JV with a 9-1 record and a third place finish at 182 pounds. Freshman Jake Ashline placed fifth at 120 pounds after posting a 5-2 record.

Up next: Valley City’s wrestlers are back in action Friday and Saturday during a tournament in Bismarck.
