Helen Alice Dally was born on August 29, 1927, near Adrian, ND to David William and Grace (Fletcher). She expired (her words) on July 15, 2023, in Edgeley, ND. Helen moved to Washington as a young adult where she raised her children, Terry and Patty Zerb. Later in life, she moved to Alaska where she resided for 17 years before moving back to the family farm near Montpelier, ND in 1993.
Helen was not one to sit still and had many hobbies/interests in life to keep her going, such as dancing, country music (esp George Strait), playing cards, gardening, dog sledding, tending to her pets, landscape painting, reading, fishing, fitness and loving life in general. She was a believer in God and heaven and is resting (or maybe dancing) in heaven.
She was full of spunk, quick wit, and always fun to be around. Helen loved her family dearly and will be missed by many, including the wonderful staff and friends at Manor St. Joseph in Edgeley.
In addition to her children, she is survived by her sister, DeLoras Greer; grandchildren, Troy (Billie) Zerb, Joe (Melissa) Zerb, Julie (Jason) Turner, and Jamie (Jeremy) Bacon; 10 great-grandchildren; best friend and partner in crime Penny Truax; and many amazing nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Ruby Klug, Elsie Klug, Marion Potter, Marjorie Lundberg, Warren “Bud” Dally, Wilma Bergstrom, Evelyn Beckerleg, Lester Dally, and Arthur Dally.
Helen was not a traditional lady and preferred no funeral. Instead, a gathering of family and friends to have a good time, drink strong black coffee, maybe have a smoke, and dance to George Strait was her wish.
You may make a donation to one of her two favorite charities, the Animal Humane Society or the Susan G. Komen for the Cure as she was a breast cancer survivor herself.
