VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Long time deputy Barnes County Auditor Julie Mindt has been appointed to become the Interim Auditor on November 9th.

During the Barnes County Commission meeting on July 6th, Commissioner Shawn Olauson moved to appoint Julie Mindt to serve as Interim Auditor, to fill the unexpired term of Barnes County Auditor Beth Didier, whose resignation will take effect at the close of business on November 8, 2023, at which time Julie Mindt will officially become the Interim Auditor, with Mindt to be paid, effective next pay period, an in-training wage of $34.00 per hour, to be reviewed in six months; Cindy Schwehr seconded the motion. Motion carried upon roll-call vote, with all members voting “yes.”

Julie Mindt will have the option of running for a full-term in the next scheduled election for Barnes County Auditor in November of 2026.

Current Auditor, Beth Didier has served for more than a decade in that position, she was re-elected in November of 2022 to a four-year term.

Didier said she plans to move into a new chapter of her life, spending more time with her family and working for the family farm.
