WEST FARGO, N.D. (NDHP) – A Fargo man is facing vehicular homicide charges following a fatal crash that killed a Minnesota woman on Wednesday, June 28th in West Fargo.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP) said at 9:23PM a 2006 Chevy Cobalt was driving south on 9th St S crossing the intersection with 19th Ave E in West Fargo. The Chevy Cobalt had a green light while crossing. A 2010 Town and Country driven by 30-year-old Sabastijan Tahirovic of Fargo was driving west on 19th Avenue E and approached the intersection at a high speed. The
light was red when the Chrysler Town and County entered the intersection striking the Chevy Cobalt on the driver’s door. The Chevy Cobalt left the roadway striking an unattended 2023 Dodge Ram and came to rest in the Blarney Stone parking lot. The Chrysler Town and Country came to rest on the curb facing east.
28-year-old Saphyre Johnson, the driver of the Chevy Cobalt, was treated for her injuries before being pronounced deceased on scene.
Sabastijan Tahirovic was treated on the scene and transported to Sanford Medical Center for continued care for his serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The Highway Patrol said Tahirovic is facing charges of Criminal Vehicular Homicide, driving under the influence of drugs, driving under suspension, possession of controlled substance-Marijuana, and driving without liability insurance.
The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
