Game one was a close battle between the Valley City Legion Post 60 Royals and the Fargo Legion Post 2 Bombers before a late rally from Fargo sealed the first game 7-3.

Valley City played six innings of clean baseball as they didn’t commit an error after the first inning as pitcher Will Schwehr held the bombers in check through six innings only allowing three earned runs. Schwehr couldn’t escape the seventh inning though as Fargo jumped on him with four hits to push across three runs to push their lead to five. Gavin Gerhardt came in for relief of Schwehr to close out the seventh.

For Valley City offensively their performance was marked with brief bits of life, but also with multiple fail opportunities to put up a crooked number on the scoreboard. Top offensive performer of the game for Valley City in the first game would be Gerhardt who went 3-4 from the lead-off position driving in a run in the seventh inning with a two out double.

The second game was a much more lopsided game as the Bombers jumped on Valley City early putting up nine runs in the first two innings and they cruised to a 15-2 five inning victory as Valley City also committed seven errors in the second game.

The Valley City Royals will be hitting the road for a weekend trip to Omaha before returning back to Valley City on June 20th for a matchup with Devils Lake.
