New Rockford, N.D (NewsDakota.com)—–Lucas Hendrickson threw a no hit shutout and needed just 71 pitches to complete a 7 inning victory over New Rockford in the season opener for Carrington Post 25 legion team. Hendrickson struck out 9 batters overall and retired 11 batters in a row to start the game. Brody Weisenburger walked with 2 outs in the bottom of the fourth inning for the first Black Sox baserunner. Keaton Cudworth opened up the bottom of the fifth with a walk but Hendrickson retired the next three batters in order. Hendrickson aided the Carrington offense as well going 2-2, 1 run scored, stolen base, and 2 RBI on a sacrifice bunt and flyout. Eight of the Carrington starters collected base hits. Jack Erickson and Grady Shipman both scored 2 runs. Owen Hagel also drove in 2 runs to aid the 7-0 win.
The Black Sox dropped to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in district play and Carrington starts the season 1-0 and also 1-0 in district play.
