“Betty” Anderson, age 81, of Oakes, ND, passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2012, at the Oakes Community Hospital, Oakes, ND.
Elizabeth Ann Iverson, daughter of Edward and Murial (Johnson) Iverson was born September 2, 1931 at Brampton, North Dakota. She attended Brampton country school and graduated from Ellendale High School. Betty earned her teaching certificate from Ellendale Normal Institute and then taught country school for one year at Brampton. She was united in marriage to Alfred Anderson on June 16, 1950 at the Cogswell Lutheran Parsonage. They made their home in Fargo before buying a farm and returning to the Brampton community, where they raised their children. In 1965 they moved to Oakes, and Betty was employed at the Oakes Hospital. For years, Betty and Alfred enjoyed having a house full of daycare kids. Each one of them had a special place in their heart, and it was like going to Grandma and Grandpa’s house. Betty and Alfred also cleaned at various churches in Oakes.
She is survived by her husband, Alfred; six children, Dennis (Patricia) Anderson, Wichita, KS, Gary (Theresa) Anderson, Grand Forks, ND, Randall (Deb) Anderson and Steven (LuAnn) Anderson, all of Oakes, Tamera Anderson, Austin, TX, and Pamela Kindsvater, Forest Lake, MN; nine grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren. Betty is also survived by two sisters, Marian Johnson, Cogswell, ND, and Patricia (Robert) Hauge of Washington. She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Mildred Anderson, one granddaughter, Tonya Rae Anderson, and a son-in-law, Bob Kindsvater.
A Memorial Service for Betty will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Oakes, ND. A private burial will be held at a later date.
