LIDGERWOOD, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The Oakes Tornadoes Rolled to two victories on Monday night in dominant fashion against the Hankinson-Fairmount-Rosholt-Campbell/Tintah-Lidgerwood (HFRCTL) Stars with 16-3 and 16-5 victories.

Game 1: Oakes 16 – HFRCTL 3

The game would start slow for both teams as Brody Steenblock and Fletcher Willprecht would prevent many runs from being scored across the first 3 innings. The Tornadoes would put up a run in the 2nd and 2 runs in the third. The Stars on the other hand could not solve Willprecht who would strike 7 in his 3 innings of work and only allow a single hit.

Xavier Vossler would come in in the 4th and the Stars would fight back to tie it, taking advantage of a  Vossler error to score 2 runs and Channing Aker getting hit by a pitch to score 3. The Tornadoes would then have a big inning of their own in the 5th scoring 6 runs on 6 hits. The dominance would continue with them scoring 3 more in the 6th and 4 more in the 7th. The Stars would have no answer to Max Walock who came on in relief of Vossler. The Tornadoes would win 16-3.

The winning pitcher would be Max Walock who went 3.0 IP with no hits, no runs, 1 BB, and 6 K’s. The losing pitcher would be Brody Steenblock who went 4.1 IP with 11 H, 9 R, 9 ER, 5 BB’s, and 3 K’s.

The Bank North Player of the Game was given to Max Walock for his pitchin and his 4/5 night at the plate with 2 RBI’s.

GAME 2: Oakes 16 – HFRCTL 5

The Tornadoes got started right away in game 2. They would be the “home” team for the game and would score 10 runs on 4 hits in the first inning with 6 runs being earned  runs. They would continue to be dominant throughout the game getting 2 runs in the 2nd and 4 runs in the 3rd. Michael Hoistad was on the mound for the Tornadoes for the first 3 innings and would be efficient allowing only 2 hits and 1 run. He woiuld also strike out 4. The Stars would get 1 run in the 4th and 3 more in the 5th however the damage was already done. The final score would be 16-5.

The winning pitcher would be Hoistad who went 3.0 IP allowing 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, and 4 K’s. The losing pitcher would be Blaise Frolek who went  1.0 IP allowing 4 H, 10 R, 6 ER, 5 BB’s, and 1 K.

The Bank North Player of the Game was Hoistad for his pitching and also for his batting going 2/2 with 3 RBI’s and scoring twice.

The Stars take on the Enderlin Eagles tonight, May 16th, in Enderlin in the Play In Game for the Region 1 Tournament.

The Tornadoes will play in the first game of the Tournament on Thursday May 18th at 12:00 PM in Enderlin against Oak Grove. The winner will move on to take on Kindred. Pregame will start at 11:50 on 1220 AM/ 100.3 FM/ 95.9 FM KDDR and online at NewsDakota.com.
