OAKES, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The Oakes Tornadoes couldn’t get much of anything going against the Northen Cass Jaguars as they would fall 16-2 in 5 innings.
The Tornadoes would start Xavier Vossler on the mound while the Jaguars would start Keegan Neva. The first inning saw both teams scoring runs with Matthew Metzger walking and scoring off of a Neva base hit for the Jaguars and Fletcher Willprecht singling and scoring off of a Vossler groundout for the Tornadoes.
The second inning saw the Jaguars continue to put on the pressure putting another runs across a trend that would continue all game with them scoring in each inning of play. Neva would start to feed the Tornadoes batters a steady diet of fastballs which would stump the batts for the rest of the game. The Jaguars would score two more runs in the 3rd inning of play before the Tornadoes were able to strike back with Willprecht reaching on a single then scoring after a James Throener ground out and an error. The score would be 5-2 after 3.
Northern Cass would blow the game open in the 4th inning. The Tornadoes would have Max Walock start the inning but he’d be chased before recording a single out. They would also chase his relief in James Throener before being stopped by Gavin Christianson. The Jaguars would score 9 runs on 4 hits to give themselves a 14-2 lead. The Tornadoes would not have a response for the rest of the game as Neva continued his lights out pitching performance. The Jaguars would end up chasing Christianson in the 5th inning after scoring 2 more runs and Blayson Dolney would finish up the game for the Tornadoes. The final score would be 16-2.
Keegan Neva would go 5.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 ER, and 8 K’s. He would get the win. He also went 3/4 at the plate with 3 RBI’s. Xavier Vossler would be issued the loss going 3.0 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 3 ER, 5 BB’s, and 2 K’s. He would also go 0/2 at the plate with a RBI. The Tornadoes were led at the plate by Willprecht and Christianson who went 3/3 and 2/2 respectively. The Tornadoes would record 5 hits and the Jaguars would record 12 hits. The total run time was 1:40. The Bank North Player of the Game was given to Gavin Christianson for his pitching and hitting on the game.
