VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City Public Schools is excited to announce the hiring of Travis Peterson as the new Assistant Principal at Valley City High School.
Peterson will begin his new role on August 1, 2023, and he will fill the newly created administrative position that became available after Mr. Daniel Larson accepted the superintendent position at the Maple Valley School District. The position was reclassified from Junior High Principal to an Assistant 7-12 Principal.
Peterson has worked in the school district since 2011 holding various positions, including; student support services, school counselor at Jefferson Elementary, and currently is the U.S History teacher at VCHS. Peterson is a 2004 graduate of VCHS and attended University of Mary where he earned his bachelor’s degree in education and master’s degrees in education and counseling. “As a 2004 graduate of VCHS, I am honored and humbled to have the opportunity to take this position. I am committed to fostering an environment where all staff and students can reach their full potential. My goal is that every individual feels comfortable and can thrive. Go Hi-Liners!”
Senior High Principal, Kristi Brandt, will become the 7-12 Principal on August 1, 2023. Mrs. Brandt provided the following statement, “Travis’s genuine care for students is evident in everything he does. From his experiences with student support services, elementary counseling, and as a dual credit instructor for U.S History; Travis has connected with students no matter their age, skill level, or background. Travis will bring many great ideas for helping us continue to prioritize Hi-Liner Pride at VCHS.”
Peterson lives in Valley City with his wife, Kaleen, and four sons Sullivan, Sawyer, Turner, and Penn.
