MITCHELL, S.D. (jimmiepride.com)– The Jimmie softball picked up its second conference sweep on Tuesday, defeating Dakota Wesleyan University 5-4 and 6-1.

Game 1:
With the score tied 2-2, Jamestown scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth then held off a DWU rally in the top of the seventh.

Megan Neiles doubled in Ally Battistoni, who led off the inning with a single, to make it 3-2. After Angie Chin singled to left and took an extra base as Neiles was safe at third, Trinity Gregg doubled in both runners for a three-run lead.

The Tigers had back-to-back singles to start the seventh, and a passed ball allowed the runners to move up a base. A groundout to shortstop brought DWU within 5-3, and following the third single of the inning, made it a one-run game.

Gregg had a pair of hits and seven other Jimmies finished with one each. Mackenzie Lefebvre joined Gregg and Neiles with doubles. Sunny Halsey went all seven innings in the circle, striking out seven.

Game 2:
Jamestown finished off the sweep with a pair of runs in each of the first, fourth, and sixth innings while holding to Tigers to a solo home run in the sixth.

Gracie Fisher‘s two-run single in the first gave UJ the lead, then Reece Floyd made it 4-0 with a two-run single in the fourth. The Jimmies finished out the scoring with Abby Blair‘s RBI triple and a sacrifice fly by Megan Neiles.

Blair pitched a complete game with five strikeouts and gave up one run on six hits. She and Ally Battistoni each scored twice, and Battistoni finished 2-for-3 at the plate.

Jamestown improves to 18-16 overall and 5-7 in the GPAC. Next up for the Jimmies is a doubleheader at Doane (Neb.) University on Friday.
