VERMILLION, S.D. (jimmiepride.com)– Jorden Morales and Braedon Gumke each had top-10 finishes for the Jimmie men’s track and field team at the University of South Dakota Early Bird Invite.

RESULTS

Morales extended his personal best in the discus with a top mark of 51.50m (168 feet, 11 inches) to finish sixth. He bettered his NAIA-qualifying throw of 51.29m set earlier this season.

Gumke cleared 4.46m (14 feet, 7 1/2 inches) in the pole vault to place seventh.

A number of Jimmies turned in new personal bests over the two-day event, including Cael Church in the decathlon; Josef Cordero (pole vault); Thomas Drago (javelin); Drew Hjelmstad (5000); Alex Maida (shot put); David Martin (1500); Victor Ramos (shot put); Sam Reiland (discus and hammer); Gabe Sherman (discus and hammer); Connor Smith (decathlon), Kanyon Vermillion (5000); and Donald Worrell (1500).

Next up for UJ is the Sioux City Relays in Sioux City, Iowa, on April 14-15.
