SIOUX CITY, IA. (NewsDakota.com) – Senior Caylor Cox of the University of Jamestown men’s volleyball team was named the 2023 Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Player-of-the-Year on Tuesday morning. Head Coach Travers Cox was named the GPAC Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season.

Caylor becomes the third straight Jimmie to win player of the year in the GPAC, joining Samuel Jackman from 2022 and Derek Owens in 2021.

Four other Jimmies joined Cox on the first team for men’s volleyball in 2023. GPAC freshman of the year Oguzhan Oguz, co-setter of the year Derek Correa, Ever Cancel, and Adam Lopata all earned first team honors.

Senior and outside hitter Downey Huynh earned second team honors while middle blockers Tysen Myers and Vincent Miska were honorable mentions.

UJ wrapped up the GPAC season on Saturday with a sweep of Dordt in the GPAC Title Match. The Jimmies, 21-3, head to Des Moines for the NAIA Men’s Volleyball National Championship starting on April 11th and running through the 15th.
