VALLEY CITY, ND  (NewsDakota.com)  Three-time state champion, and multiple record-holder, Koye Grebel has announced his college commitment to the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Via Instagram, Grebel wrote, “I am truly grateful, honored, and blessed to finally say I am a Hawkeye,”  He stated it’s his mission to represent North Dakota during his experience in Iowa City.

Grebel won three state titles and appeared in four state finals during his high school career.  He was named North Dakota’s Mr. Wrestler this past season.

Several records were set by Grebel this season.  He became the second-winningest wrestler in Hi-Liner history, and he holds Hi-Liner records for wins in a season, team points in a season, takedowns in a season, takedowns in a career, and nearfall points in a career.

Grebel is projected as a 141-pounder for the Hawkeyes, who finished national runners-up this past season.  The program boasts 24 NCAA national titles and 37 Big-10 championships.  The Hawkeyes are considered one of the elite NCAA wrestling programs in the sport’s history.
