CASS COUNTY, N.D. (CCSO) – Cass County Sheriff Jesse Jahner has placed a patrol deputy on paid administrative leave pending the results of an internal investigation.

He said the actions of the deputy, at the time of the fatal crash on Interstate 94 involving two semi tractor-trailers prompted an internal review regarding their response as it relates to the incident and policy. At this time, the sheriff’s office is not releasing the name of the deputy, no criminal charges are pending against the deputy, and no further information is being provided.

The crash investigation is being handled by the North Dakota Highway Patrol; they are aware of the actions of this deputy.
