SEWARD, Neb. (jimmiepride.com)– The Jimmie baseball team began the Great Plains Athletic Conference portion of their schedule Monday with a doubleheader against Concordia University.

The Bulldogs (16-8, 2-0 GPAC) took both games against Jamestown (11-9, 0-2 GPAC) 7-6 and 7-0.

UJ is back in action Tuesday against Morningside (Iowa) University. The doubleheader is set to begin at 10:30 a.m. at Briar Cliff University’s Sisters of St. Francis Field.

Triston Madison went 2-for-3 with a home run and 2 RBI, while Chase Burke and Kendall Yackley each had a pair of hits in the opener. Jamestown led 5-3 going into the bottom of the fourth, and the Bulldogs cut the deficit to one run going into the fifth. Single runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings gave CUNE a 6-5 lead as UJ came to bat in the seventh.

Hayden Brown reached on a fielder’s choice, scoring Xander Orejudos to make it 6-6, but with one out in the bottom of the seventh, a bases-loaded single brought in the winning run for the Bulldogs.

CUNE pitching held the Jimmie bats in check during game two, limiting UJ to three hits in a 7-0 win.

Brown doubled in the second inning while Madison (fourth inning) and Ben Patton (seventh inning) each singled to account for the Jamestown hits.
