SIOUX CITY, IA. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown’s own Mason Walters stretched his reign as Great Plains Athletic Conference Player of the Year to three consecutive seasons as the senior was once again tabbed the player of the year on Wednesday.
Walters, who has amassed more than 2,500 points and 1,200 rebounds in his Jimmie career, becomes the first player in GPAC basketball history to win the award three times. He averaged 26.3 points per game in addition to 9.6 rebounds and two blocks. Walters has made the most field goals in the NAIA this year (315) and ranks second in points (809), points per game (26.3), and points per 40 minutes (35.3).
Walters is joined by teammates Will Cordes, Cole Woodford, and Marc Kjos on the all-conference team. Cordes and Woodford, both juniors, were named All-GPAC Second Team. Kjos was selected as an honorable mention.
The Jimmies were co-champions during the regular season in the GPAC and runner-ups in the postseason tournament. The NAIA National Tournament Selection Show is Thursday, March 2nd.
