JAMESTOWN, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The District 5 Boys Basketball Tournament began on Saturday February 25th at the Jamestown Civic Center. Results are below.

Game 1: LaMoure-LM 59 – 32 Barnes County North

The game started close between the Loboes and the Bison but the Loboes were able to pull away at starting at the second half to put themselves to the semifinals to continue their title defense. In the first half BCN had Jonah Harstad leading the way with three 3 pointers. However Max Musland was able to get hot and put up 16 points in the first half. The Bison weren’t able to get any momentum after that as LaMoure-LM kept pulling away leading 28-15 at the half and winning the game 59-32. The Bison were led in scoring by Will Schwer who went 6/12 on the night for 12 points. The Loboes were led by Max Musland who went 9/13 on the night, 2/4 from 3, and 4/5 from the foul stripe for 24 points. LaMoure now goes onto the semifinals where they have a date with Ellendale. The Bison go onto the Region Qualifier on Tuesday.

Game 2: Carrington 66 – 29 Oakes

The Cardinals and Tornadoes started off rather close with neither squad able to get over the other. The score was 12-11 after the first. The Cardinals would find the spark in the second quarter however as they would outscore the Tornadoes 21-7. The Tornadoes could not get anything to fall in the 2nd quarter. They would fight back a bit in the 3rd quarter putting up 10 however Carrington would still score 17. The Cardinals would finish the game off winning 66-29. The Oakes Tornadoes as a team shot 12/46 on the game. Carrington would shoot 28/50. The Tornadoes were led in scoring by Xavier Vossler who would go 3/9 on the night for 8 points. The Cardinals had several players score more than 10. Jack Erickson would go 5/9 for 13 points, Grady Shipman would go 6/10 for 16 points, and Hudson Schmitz would earn player of the game going 7/12 for 17. Schmitz would also have 7 rebounds. The Cardinals move onto the semifinal game on Monday while the Tornadoes go to the elimination game.

Game 3: Edgeley/Kulm/Montpellier 65 – 44 Griggs-Midkota

The Rebels got started early in the game no looking back. After one quarter of play they led 17-9 however the 2nd quarter is when they really got rolling. They would outscore the Titans 22-6 giving them a 39-15 lead at the half. They were being led by Braeden Kinzler who had 17 points in the first half. The Titans would not give up though and they would fight back after being down by 24 to bring it back to 14 however EKM would do just enough to hold onto the lead and prevent Griggs-Midkota from completing the comeback. The Titans were led in scoring by Carter Spitzer who went 5/15 from the field, 3/11 from downtown, and 2/3 from the foul line for 15 points. The Rebeles had two major scorers one being Kinzler who went 7/12 from the field, 4/7 from beyond the arc, and 3/3 from the charity stripe for 21 points. The other was Jacob Nitschke who had a double-double in points and rebounds. He would go 7/11 from the field and 4/5 from the charity stripe for 18 points. He would also have 2 offensive rebounds and 9 defensive rebounds for 11 rebounds. He would earn player of the game. The Titans now go on to play the Oakes Tornadoes in the elimination game on Monday while EKM goes onto play Carrington in the 2nd semifinal game on Monday.
