JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The #11 University of Jamestown men’s basketball booked its trip to the GPAC Championship game in a dominant 95-77 victory over Concordia (NE) on Saturday afternoon.

Marc Kjos put the Jimmies on the scoreboard with a three in the first two minutes and Jamestown never trailed during the entire GPAC semifinal against Concordia.

The effort and intensity on the defensive side of the ball was the most significant difference in the first half as the Jimmies jumped in front 53-26 at the break. Mason Walters was highly efficient throughout the game, scoring 19 points in the first half on 8-of-9 shooting. The Jimmies were 55% from the field and forced 13 Concordia turnovers in the opening 20 minutes.

Jamestown also controlled a majority of the second half behind Walters, who finished with 33 points while shooting 87% for the game. The Jamestown senior scored 30 or more points for the 10th time this season.

Cole Woodford added 17 points and three steals in the victory. Off the bench, Jimmy Llinas had nine points and four rebounds. Lake City natives Marc Kjos and Reid Gastner had nice games, with Kjos scoring nine points and Gastner grabbing 11 rebounds.

The Jimmies held Concordia (NE) to under 30% from the field in the first half to build the big lead. UJ’s largest lead of the game was 31 with under six minutes remaining in the second half.
