JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – After mother nature postponed senior day for the Blue Jays three different times this week, it was apparent that both Jamestown teams were itching to take the floor on Friday afternoon at the Jamestown Civic Center.

The Blue Jays came away with a doubleheader sweep to round out the regular season in the West.

GIRLS BASKETBALL: JAMESTOWN 71, MANDAN 63

The Blue Jay girls clinched the #5 seed and an automatic berth to the Bismarck Event Center with the eight point victory over Mandan. Ella Falk dominated from start to finish, leading Jamestown with 41 points. Falk and Bre Oettle, both seniors, scored all 37 of Jamestown’s first half points.

The Blue Jays went into the locker room tied at 37 with Mandan and the game remained tight throughout the entire second half. Falk and Oettle combined for 20 second half points to pull away from Mandan late. Oettle added 16 points in addition to Falk’s 41.

Jamestown wraps up the regular season at 11-10 overall and 10-10 in the West. Jamestown faces Legacy in the WDA quarterfinals on Thursday.

BOYS BASKETBALL: JAMESTOWN 83, #4 MANDAN 82

Although the Braves led for most of the game, free throws and turnovers proved to be the difference down the stretch for the Jamestown boys to get a win on senior day. All three seniors finished in double figures, as both Mason Lunzman and Caydann Cox had 14 points. Dalton Lamp led the charge for the Jays with 18 points, 10 coming in the second half.

Jamestown trailed 45-35 at the half but took the game one possession at a time on the final 18 minutes. The Jays connected on 11 of their final 12 free throws, a major key in grabbing the win against the #4 Braves. Ryan Larson chipped in 11 points as five Blue Jays scored in double figures.

The Jamestown boys wrap up the regular season also at 11-10 overall and 10-10 in the West. The Jays host Watford City at the Civic Center Saturday at 1:00 PM in the play-in round of the West Region Tournament.
