JAMESTOWN, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The Region 3 Girls Basketball Tournament kicked off at the Jamestown Civic Center today, February 20th. Only 2 games were able to be played due to weather. The results are below.

GAME 1: Kidder County Wolves 48 – 31 #10 Oakes Tornadoes

The Oakes Tornadoes were unable to get anything going against the stout Kidder County defense as they fell in the first round. The Wolves got off to an early lead and held on and kept the agressive defense up the entire game preventing Oakes from getting inside and forcing many turnovers. The Wolves led 24-12 at the half and kept up the pressure in the second half to win the game 48-31. The Wolves were led in scoring by Kennedy Harter who had 12 points going 4/10 from the field and 4/4 from the charity stripe. She also had 6 rebounds on the night and was named the player of the game. The Tornadoes were led by Laikyn Roney with 9 points going 3/11 from the field, 1/2 from beyond the arc, and 2/2 from the free throw line. Kidder County advances to the semifinal round which has a date of TBD. The Tornadoes finish their season with a record of 18-4.

Game 2: Linton-HMB Lady Lions 50 – 37 LaMoure-LM Loboes

The Lions and Loboes had a hard hitting match with the Lions pulling away late in the game. Both teams were battling early with Linton-HMB having the early advantage of a 24-16 lead at the half. This would quickly evaporate after the Loboes went on an 8-0 run to start the 2nd half to tie it up at 24 apiece. The momentum would be halted however as Linton would turn around and go on a 14-0 run to end the 3rd quarter. They would essentially trade points back and forth in the 4th quarter for the Lions to win 50-37. The Lady Lions had 3 players with 10 points: Allie Dockter (5/8 fg), Emma Schick (2/2 fg, 4/4 ft), and Kaylee Weninger (5/6 fg). The Loboes were led by Tessa Rassmussen who went 5/11 from the field, 2/4 from beyond the arc, and 1/2 from the charity stripe for 13 points. The Loboes finish their season with a record of 11-12.
