MINOT, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High School boy’s hockey team is headed to the state tournament for the 22nd time in history as the Jays defeated Dickinson 3-1 in a state qualifier on Saturday afternoon at MAYSA Arena.

Both sides were scoreless after the opening period, but Jamestown ended up striking first in the second to take a 2-0 advantage. Max Mehus produced another goal in the WDA Tournament at 13:13 in the second to push Jamestown in front 1-0. Easton Romsdal had the other second period goal just two minutes later to make it 2-0. Both goals were assisted by Brooks Roaldson.

Dickinson brought the game back within one in the middle of the third period, but Ashton Stockert provided the dagger for Jamestown on the power play to help the Jays return to the state tournament.

Jamestown’s Andrew Walz made 38 saves in net to get the victory. The senior was stellar throughout the entire West Region Tournament.

The Blue Jays will be the #4 seed representing the West in the state hockey tournament, which begins on Thursday in Grand Forks.
