VALLEY CITY, ND (NewsDakota.com)  The longstanding winter basketball classic in Valley City will add a hometown team next season.

The Valley City Hi-Liners have entered the Barnes County Basketball Tournament on both the boys and girls side for the 2023-24 season.

Valley City has a history in the tournament.  The Hi-Liners were invited to play in the tournament when the Class B enrollment cutoff was briefly raised to 400.  Their sub-varsity teams were used as filler teams for the tournament at various times.

The girls field will include Barnes County North, Maple River, LaMoure/Litchville-Marion, Enderlin, Valley City, Wyndmere-Lidgerwood/Hankinson, Richland, and Northern Cass.

The boys field will include the same teams, with the exception of Northern Cass.  May-Port-C-G will fill that position.
