Parish Mission Speaker Fr. Kyle Metzger
VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Fr. Kyle Metzger will preach the parish mission at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in Valley City beginning Sunday, March 5, 2023 and concluding Tuesday March 7, 2023 beginning at 6:30 pm each evening. The focus of the mission will be accepting and using God’s Gifts of Grace.
Fr. Metzger will begin the mission with a talk on Baptism and how we are called to holiness in all states of our life. His second talk will focus on Matrimony, including relationships and dating and family life. Since this is the year of the Eucharistic Revival, Fr. Metzger will conclude the mission with a talk on the devotion, belief and theology of the Holy Eucharist. All are welcome and invited to attend.
Fr. Kyle Metzger is currently the Principal at Shanley High School in Fargo and the current Diocesan Vocation Director for the Diocese of Fargo. He was born in Fargo, North Dakota and attended the JP2 Schools from kindergarten through high school and graduated from Shanley in 2000. He entered St. John Vianney Seminary in St. Paul, MN after high school graduation. He left the seminary after 3 years to pursue a degree in elementary education at the University of St. Thomas, also in St. Paul. He taught middle school for six years in Phoenix, AZ and in Shakopee, MN. During that time he completed a masters degree in elementary education, intending to become a Catholic school principal. At that time, he discerned that the Lord was calling him to return to the seminary. He was sent to Mount St. Mary’s Seminary in Emmitsburg, MD to resume the final five years of seminary formation. He was ordained a priest by Bishop John Folda in 2015. He served two years as parochial vicar at St. Anne & Joachim Parish in Fargo, and taught at Shanley and Sullivan Schools. He served one year at St. Michael in Grand Forks before being named Vocation director for the Diocese of Fargo in 2018.
In 2021, Bishop Folda named him principal of his alma mater, Fargo Shanley High School.
