MITCHELL, SD. (NewsDakota.com) – Cole Woodford knocked down eight threes on Wednesday night as the #11 University of Jamestown men’s basketball team defeated Dakota Wesleyan, 84-71.

Dakota Wesleyan jumped out to an early 16-7 lead before the Jimmies could get settled in on the road. Jamestown found its footing behind Cole Woodford, who had 15 points in the opening half to lead all scorers. The Jimmies led the Tigers 40-37 at the half while going 8-for-16 from three and shooting 47% from the floor.

It was a dominant start to the second half for UJ as they opened the final 20 minutes on a 22-8 run. Woodford continued his hot shooting from the outside, ending with a career-high 26 points. The Tigers cut the Jimmie lead to 10 late in the second half, forcing a Jamestown timeout.

Dakota Wesleyan cut the lead back within 10 at 71-62 at just under four minutes to play. The Jimmies were able to keep the Tigers at bay late. Jamestown shot 52% from the field and 57% from long range. UJ was also 11-12 at the free throw line.

Mason Walters had 24 points and eight rebounds. Lake City natives Marc Kjos and Reid Gastner each ended the game with 11 points.
