JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – After trailing by as many as 22 points in the second half, the Jamestown High School girl’s basketball team made a late push that ultimately came up short against #4 Minot. The final score was 57-51.
Both teams struggled to shoot early as Minot jumped out to a 20-8 advantage in the first 11 minutes. Bre Oettle had the first eight points for Jamestown, keeping them in the first half. Minot led 29-18 at the break.
In the second half, the Majettes were in front by 22 points with under nine minutes remaining when Jamestown’s offense found its footing. Ella Falk and Katie Falk picked up some scoring while Oettle and Teagan Bosche led the charge from long range. In the end, Jamestown’s late push fell short on time, snapping a five-game winning streak for the Jays.
Oettle led Jamestown in scoring with 16 points while Bosche added 11. Leah Trumbauer had seven points off the bench, and Peyton Waliser poured in six. Leelee Bell lead all scorers with 23 points.
The Blue Jays fall to 7-4 overall and 6-4 in the West Region this year. Jamestown hosts Legacy next Thursday night starting at 5:45 PM from Jerry Meyer Arena.
