Brooks, 90, Jamestown, ND, died Sunday December 9, 2012 at the Jamestown Regional Medical Center in Jamestown.

Burnett was born October 6, 1922 at the family farm home south of Cleveland, ND, the son of Byron and Hulda (Kurtz) Brooks. He attended the local country school where he received his elementary education and grew to manhood in the vicinity where he helped on the family farm.

He was drafted into the United States Army December 4, 1942 at Fort Snelling, MN. He was discharged September 20, 1943 at Fort Williams, Maine with the rank of PVT, and returned home to farm.

He and Daisie Hazer were married September 1, 1950 at Woodworth, ND. They made their home on the farm south of Woodworth until 1953 when they moved into Jamestown where he worked at Jamestown Grocery Wholesale for 27 years. He also had his own painting business. In 1982 he retired and they continued to reside in Jamestown.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the D.A.V. chapter #31 in Jamestown and enjoyed playing cards and going to dances.

He is survived by his wife Daisie, Jamestown, ND; 2 daughters, Barbara (Warren Batsch) Vilhauer, Jamestown, ND; Linda (John) Nistler, Moorhead, MN, 3 grandchildren, Kerry Nistler, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Nathan (Athena) Nistler, Cottage Grove, MN; Kristen (Tim) Morris, Bismarck, ND; 4 great grandchildren, Brooklyn and Brayden Morris and Carson and Kaelyn Nistler, 2 brothers, Wilbert Brooks, and Luxton Brooks, both of Jamestown, ND, and 1 sister, Lucille Kolberg, Duluth, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and 3 brothers.

Memorial Service – 1:30 P.M. Wednesday December 12, 2012 at the Haut Funeral Chapel in Jamestown, ND, with Pastor Rich Fitzer, officiating.

Burial – Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, ND.
