JAMESTOWN, ND  (NewsDakota.com)  After storming out to an 18-4 lead, a combination of foul trouble and hot Midget shooting combined to stall the Blue Jay boys in a 75-72 loss to Dickinson Saturday.

Payton Hochhalter rolled early, scoring seven of the games first 22 point, helping build a 14-point edge for the Jays.  But a second foul early in the half, sent him to the bench, and Dickinson took advantage.

Tyrece Annace hit three from beyond and Drew Biel tallied 11 before halftime, with the Midgets cutting the lead to 38-36 at the break.

Jamestown rebuilt a nine-point edge, but watched as Biel would hit three more threes and Midget leading scorer Alex Dvorak knocked in 16 of his game-high 24 in the second half, with Dickinson surging ahead 68-61 for their biggest lead.

The Blue Jays responded with Ryan Larson dumping in 14 of his team-high 21 in the second half, and Noah Meissner hitting five field goals in the second half to finish with 17.  Larson’s hoop-and-harm cut the lead to 73-72 with seconds to play.

Dvorak was fouled and hit both, and Jamestown saw a late three by Dalton Lamp fall short at the horn, sealing the Midget victory.

Lamp, Jamestown’s leading scorer, went scoreless in the second half and finished with 10 on two field goals in the first half, along with 5-6 foul shooting.  Hochhalter added 16 for the Jays.

Jametown plays at Mandan Tuesday.
