SIOUX CENTER, IA. (NewsDakota.com) – A pair of free throws with less than three seconds to play helped #5 Dordt edge the Jamestown women 72-70 on Saturday afternoon.

Jamestown took a 42-35 lead into the half after foul trouble for the Defenders helped the Jimmies jump ahead going to the break. UJ used a 22-5 run over the final six minutes of play in order to lead at the break.

Dordt outscored UJ 20-10 in the third quarter to regain the advantage, but Jamestown fought throughout the entirety of the fourth quarter to bring the game back to even. A pair of Hannah DeMars free throws tied the game at 70 with the shot clock turned off. Dordt’s Faith Van Holland knocked down her two free throws and DeMars game-tying shot came up short at the buzzer.

DeMars put up 23 points and 11 rebounds, going 9-10 at the charity stripe. Kia Tower added 18 points and Audrey Rodakowski ended the night with 11. The Jimmies went 19-22 as a team from the free throw line, and Kate Cordes also ended the game in double figures with 10 points.

The Jimmies drop to 12-4 on the year, now 7-3 in the GPAC. UJ hosts Briar Cliff on Wednesday night starting at 6:00 PM from Newman Arena. Full coverage can be heard on Jamestown 107.1/1400, and online at newsdakota.com.
