Betty Linerud Sjostrom, age 76, of Fargo, ND passed away unexpectantly, Saturday, December 31st, 2022 at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND surrounded by loved ones.

Betty was born on March 1st, 1946 to Helga and John Linerud of Valley City, ND. She graduated from Valley City High School in 1964 and married Harley Sjostrom. They made their first home in Fort Riley Kansas where Harley was stationed in the Army, welcoming their first daughter during their years in Kansas. They moved back to Valley City after Harley’s service in the army was complete, making their home on a farm outside of the city. Here they welcomed 2 additional daughters and a son. They divorced in 1974 and Betty moved to Valley City where she earned her teaching certificate from Valley City State College. For the next 25 years, she dedicated her teaching to high school and college business courses before retiring to Fargo in 2013. Betty made her home in Fargo where her highlight was spending time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was present at hundreds of sporting events, dance recitals, musicals, and concerts.

She is survived by Daughters- Carrie (Dan) Trageton, Leslie (Glenn Knoll) Sjostrom, and Kami Anez, Son- Jason (Hilary) Sjostrom, Brothers- Myron and Larry Linerud, Sisters- Ruth Strating, Dagny Cahill and Linda Wurzer. 11 Grandchildren- Kayleigh, Chelsea, Tyler, Samuel, Savannah, Harley, Caleb, Jonas, Sullivan, Sienna, Lawson and 4 Great-Grandchildren – Elizabeth, Svea, Abigail, Arthur.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Helga and John, Brothers- Donald and Joe, Sisters-Helen, Sally, Shirley, and Gunda. Harley Sjostrom, and Son-in-law, Jared Anez.
