N.D. (Prairie Public News) – University System chancellor Ham Shirvani says a proposed new funding formula for the state’s colleges and universities will need more monitoring from the central office.
The new formula bases funding on courses completed by students – and there are different weights on different courses.
Shirvani had asked for 30 more people in the central office – for compliance and legal matters. Governor Dalrymple’s budget increases staff by seven. But Shirvani says he will need more people to make sure the new formula is correctly followed.
Shirvani also says the amount of construction proposed for the campuses needs further oversight – and that means more people. Shirvani says he plans to ask lawmakers to add more compliance officers than the Governor recommended.
