VALLEY CITY, ND  (NewsDakota.com)  A pair of second-half scoring runs did the Hi-Liners in during a double-header with West Fargo Monday.

The Packer girls finished the front half on a 35-6 run to distance the Hi-Liners 77-48, while the Packer boys used a 29-6 run to start the second 18 minutes, during a 10-point game at the break into a 96-75 win.

The Hi-Liner girls erased a one-time 17-point lead with a 25-8 run, capped by a Drew Potratz three-point shot in transition that tied the game at 42-42.

The run was spawned by a tough defensive look inside by Brooke Eggermont, who stood toe-to-toe and held NDSU-commit Miriley Simon to two points in the first seven-minutes of the second half.

Simon then responded by finishing the game with 37 total, sparking a 35-6 game-ending run for the Packers, running out the 29-point win.

Carly Goven led three Hi-Liners in double figures with 13, Potratz added 11 and Sam Hatcher finished with 10.

It was a rough, physical follow-up in the first half of the boys matchup, as the teams combined for 32 fouls in the first 18 minutes.

West Fargo led by as many as 19, but Zach Sykora made nine of ten foul shots in the first half, and Carson Eggert was fouled on a three-quarter court attempt at the horn.  His three foul shots cut the lead to 53-43 at the break.

The Packers’ defense responded, holding the Hi-Liners to just six points in the first 7:30 of the second half, while four scored in double figures in the lopsided finish.

Calahan Burchill and Zach Sykora co-led the Hi-Liners with 14 each.

The Hi-Liner girls drop to 0-3, the boys 0-4, on the year.  They play a doubleheader at Jamestown Tuesday.  The game will be broadcast on Q101, 101.1 FM.
