VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Superintendent Josh Johnson said for obvious reasons, including the current no travel advisory and winter storm warning, we are going to cancel school for Thursday, December 15th, and will be using another virtual learning school day.
Valley City Public Schools will be using our fourth virtual learning day of the week, on Thursday, December 15th. The current conditions and forecast for the day will make it very challenging to get to and from school. Last night we received about four inches of new snow and the forecast is calling for an additional 4-5 inches throughout the day along with strong winds gusting over 40mph.
Students, staff, and parents, thank you very much for your hard work, flexibility, and collaboration this week. We know that virtual learning has its fair share of challenges for all of us. We are hanging onto the two storm days built into our calendar and believe they will be used between now and the end of the winter. So far, we will not be adding any additional make-up days on our calendar.
Please look for a communication coming this morning from the school principals with more information on the virtual learning school day at Jefferson, Washington, and the Junior-Senior High. Unless your travel is necessary, it sounds like today is a good day to stay at home. Let’s give our city, county, and state workers the space they need to deal with the current and new snow. I hope you and your family are doing well, have a good day!
All activities postponed for Thursday, December 14th.
