Larry was born on June 9, 1938 to Roy and Doris (Johnson) Jacobson in Valley City, ND.

Larry graduated from Dazey High School in 1956. After graduating, he went on to operate the family dairy farm in Dazey, ND for many years until he made some changes in his life and became an addiction counselor.  It was through addiction counseling that Larry sought to make amends for missteps in his life by helping others find a new path.

In 1955, Larry married Esther Jorissen. Larry and Esther went on to have 6 children, Kevin, Jeff, Denise, Dee Ann, Renae, Tracy.  Although later divorced, Larry and Esther stayed in contact throughout the years.

Larry was married in 1999, to Myra “Connie” Holly in Williston, ND, where they resided until 2012 when they moved to Oriska, ND to be closer to family.

Larry, or Papa Buck as he was known to his family, loved talking baseball and having animals around.  He had everything from dogs, to cows, to a large Cockatoo bird.  Over the span of his life, he owned countless animals and loved caring for each one of them.  Those around him said he was full of character and loved a good conversation.

Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Connie (2014); his daughters, Dee Ann (1959) and Denise (2008); and his brother, Neil (2006). He is survived by his siblings, Charles (Kathy), Marshall, Nancy Sather; children, Kevin (Kathy), Jeff, Renae, Tracy (Ron); 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
