L. Brobst, 75, passed away on December 6, 2012 at Mercy Hospital, Valley City, ND.

James was born in Valley City on March 8, 1937 to Edward and Marjorie (Thiel) Brobst. He grew up on the family farm near Rogers, ND and received his education at the Rogers School. Summers were spent with his uncles on their farms. He started farming with his father in 1953.

He married Kathleen Bohrer on November 5, 1958. They farmed until 1983. James then worked for area farmers for 10 years and construction for about 5 years.

James enjoyed spending time with his family. He taught his grandsons how to play pinochle and loved taking them fishing.

James was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley City.

His quiet ways and wise words will be missed.

James is survived by his wife 55 years, Kathy Brobst.

Grandchildren: Chasity Brobst, Karissa (David) Daws, and Nicholas, and Clayton (Kristen), Clinton (Matia), and Michael.
He has three great-grandchildren and soon to be two more.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Visitation will be at the Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City on Monday, December 10, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley City.  Burial will be in Memory Gardens near Valley City.
