VALLEY CITY, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The LaMoure-Litchville-Marion Loboes fell to the Enderlin Eagles on Thursday Dec 8th by a score of 48-46. The lost knocks the Loboes out of the championship game which they had won for the last 6 straight tournaments.
The game started well for the Loboes. Going up in the first quarter by a score of 11-7 however the second quarter was not kind. Enderlin came out strong and built up a lot of momentum outscoring LaMoure 10-4 in the quarter ending the half with the eagles up 17-15.
The second half saw the Eagles keep their momentum out scoring LaMoure 12-9 in the quarter with several big three pointers and being led by Genevieve Gruba to a 29-24 lead going into the 4th. Enderlin popped out to a 9 point lead early in the quarter being led by Aspyn Schlecht who went 3/3 on 3 pointers in the quarter. The lead would quickly evaporate as a combonation of Tessa Rasmussen, Georgia Lettenmaier, and Norah DelaBarre working in the paint to get the Loboes back to a two point deficit late. Rasmussen would tie the game up at 46-46 with 10 seconds left on the clock with a mid range jumper. However, the Eagles gave the ball to Gruba who would charge down the court and cut through the defense to the paint for a layup that would find the bucket with just 2 seconds left on the clock. That would be the final points of the game.
LaMoure-LM shot for 36% from the field in the first half, going 1/3 from deep, and 0/2 from the charity stripe. In the second half they would go 46% from the field, 0/6 from deep, and 3/6 from the line. For the game they shot 42% from the field. Their leading scorer was Tessa Rassmussen who went 5/15 from the field, 0/4 from deep, and 2/4 from the free throw line for 12 points.
Enderlin in the first half shot 25% from the field, with 3/11 from deep, and 2/6 from the free throw stripe. In the second half they went 57% from the field, 5/11 from deep, and 4/5 from the free throw line. For the game they shot 39% from the field. Their leading scorer was Aspyn Schlecht who went 8/16 from the field and 6/10 from three for 22 points.
The Loboes now play in the third place game against Wyndmere-Lidgerwood-Hankinson which will take place approximately at 6:00 on Friday Dec 9th on Q101.
