(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes High School boys basketball team will start their 2012-13 season on Friday night when they play the first of two games in consecutive nights at home. The Tornadoes finished last season with a record of 3-19 and were 1-7 in District 1. Brandon Bata returns as head coach, his sixth year as the man in charge.
Friday’s contest is a District 1 contest against the Hankinson Pirates who finished with a 10-13 mark and advanced to the Region I tournament. Saturday, Oakes will welcome one of the favorites in Region I with Maple Valley coming to town in a District 2 vs. District 1 match up.
Coverage of both games can be heard on KDDR-AM 1220 95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com starting around 7:15 each night with tip off scheduled for roughly 7:30 p.m.
