WEST FARGO, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) -Casey Kruger, senior competitor on the Valley City High School Speech and Student Congress teams, competed in the District American Legion Oratorical Contest held in West Fargo on Saturday, December 3rd.

Head coach Abby Ingstad said Kruger gave a presentation with his original speech titled “Interpreting Our Future” where he discusses the importance and history of constitutional interpretations.

The American Legion Oratorical Contest was founded in 1938 and participating students write speeches about the U.S. constitution and compete for scholarship money. Each competition a student wins, they are awarded a scholarship and an invitation to compete at the next level of competition.

Ingstad said Kruger represented himself and his community with his win. He will compete at the regional competition to be held in mid-January.
