SEWARD, NE. (NewsDakota.com) – The #5 ranked University of Jamestown men’s basketball flexed its muscle in the second half on the road in Nebraska as the Jimmies rolled to a 90-59 win over #23 Concordia.
In a physical game on both sides of the ball, Jamestown took a 22-point lead in the first half before the Bulldogs cut the UJ advantage down to 16 at the break. In the second, Jamestown took it to Concordia, shutting down their best offensive weapons and outscoring the Bulldogs 48-33.
Mason Walters led Jamestown with 33 points and nine rebounds and three other Jimmies ended the game in double-figures. Cole Woodford and Reid Gastner each had 13 and Marc Kjos finished with 10 points. UJ shot 47% from the field while Concordia was held to 33% shooting and 11% from long range.
Jamestown improves to 5-1 on the year, now 2-1 in the GPAC. With the victory, the Jimmies snapped Concordia’s 23-game home winning streak while also snapping a four-game losing streak to the Bulldogs. UJ travels to Kingsport, Tennessee for the NAIA’s ‘The Show’ tournament which takes place Friday-Sunday. Jamestown takes on WV Institute of Technology on Saturday at 11:45 AM and William Jessup Sunday at 10:00 AM.
