CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Construction work on a retaining wall along the Sheyenne River in Valley City is expected to start later this month. City Administrator David Schelkoph says after the city accepted the bid on Monday they awarded the contract to Swingen Construction of Grand Forks. A portion of the river bank eroded this spring a few feet from Main Street.
KLJ spokesman Eric Gilbertson says the estimated cost of the project, $255,000 will be covered by the South Central Dakota Regional Council via of Governor Dalrymple’s emergency fund. Gilbertson says the city will pay for the engineering fee. The total amount will to be released later.
Swingen did the reconstruction work on the West City Park bridge project a few years ago in Valley City.
