(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes City Council met for their regular monthly meeting on Monday night.
Among the topics of note from the meeting; the fire department has plans to resume work on the creation of a fire district, and also is working on updating mutual aid agreements with all entities.
Possible new site locations for the city’s landfill have not been approved yet by the State Department of Health and soil testing still needs to be complete.
The city will be participating with Dickey County for a county-wide assessment software; the city’s estimated share will be $1,000 per year.
On a first reading, the council approved an amendment to prohibit the sale and consumption of alcohol upon any public right-of-way, street, alley, highway or public sidewalk within the city, with the penalty for violating being a $50 fine.
On a second reading, the council approved a request for $5,000 for new playground equipment at Willow Park.
There was also first reading for $3,600 for bleachers to be used at community programs and events.
