VALLEY CITY, ND  (NewsDakota.com)  After opening up play last weekend, the Viking basketball teams will host the University of Minnesota-Morris in a non-conference doubleheader tonight.

With a split by the men, and a doubleheader sweep of Providence College by the women, both teams showed their potential for the season over a three-day stretch Friday through Sunday.

The Viking men defeated Northwestern, IA, a team receiving votes in the preseason poll, 91-83 in the opener last Friday.  They were beaten on Saturday by Dordt, IA 105-87.  The women were dominant in 89-32 and 91-34 wins over Providence Saturday and Sunday last weekend.

Morris has not yet opened play this season, and the games will technically be preseason games for the Cougars.

Game time is 5:30 PM for the women, with the mens game to follow.
