VALLEY CITY, ND  (NewsDakota.com)  The Viking volleyball team tries to build late-season momentum on their home court tonight as they welcome rival Mayville State to town.

Valley City State endured an eight-match losing streak that started after an upset of Dakota State at home on September 30th.  It included some of their best volleyball of the year in a five-seat near upset of nationally-ranked Bellevue the next day.

The Vikings then went to Mayville and were turned away in five sets, the second of four-straight five set losses.  Valley City State led 2-1 in the match, but fell 25-22, 21-25, 22-25, 25-22, 15-7.

Valley City State enters the night 4-8 in North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) play, trailing Presentation for fifth place by a match, with Presentation coming to Grachien Gym Friday night.

Mayville State is 6-6, currently in fourth place in the league.

Match time is set for 6:00 PM, pregame coverage begins at 5:30 PM on KOVC.
